The Kings Leadership Academy in Warrington, where fencing is taught to all children as part of the PE Curriculum has just been awarded the Government’s National Character Award 2015 as a school which is doing outstanding work in developing character and leadership in its students. The fencing programme in the school is led by one of our Fencing Masters, Prof. Isobel Bruce Combes and all children go through a rigorous programme of fencing training in their first and second years leading to them attaining the BAF Bronze and Silver Awards in Foil. In future years, the fencing will be incorporated into the GCSE and A level courses and coach education will be offered in the sixth form. The Academy congratulates Kings on this achievement and wishes them every success in the continued development of fencing in the school.
