Foil Coaching Workshop with Adam Blight – Saturday 18th October
October 18 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Developing Fencers Tactical Effectiveness

This workshop will explore how a coach can, over time, expand a fencer’s tactical intuitions and capabilities moving towards a fencer making self aware and deliberate tactical choices.
Fencing is first and foremost a sport of tactics By ensuring that any practice is set in a tactically coherent context the fencer develops the capability to make effective tactical choices both intuitively and deliberately. This workshop will present and practice tried and tested tactically coherent exercises for individual lessons and set out an over all approach for the coach to take.
This will involve ‘sword in hand’ practice and coaches can bring a pupil with them. This workshop is in association with Sheffield Buccaneers Fencing Club.
The Workshop will take place on Saturday 18th October at the Park Centre, Duke Street, Sheffield S2 5QP and run from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Entrance to the hall will be via the fire door access on Coates Street. The Park Centre is a 15 minute walk from the train station and has a tall brick chimney which can be seen from some distance. The cost will be £25 for BAF members and £30 for non members payable by bank transfer.
Adam Blight has worked as a full time professional coach for over 30 years. Working both with new fencers and highly capable international athletes. This workshop is in association with Sheffield Buccaneers Fencing Club.
