SUMMARY:Richard Kruse Master Class
DESCRIPTION:Actions on the Blade\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFour time Olympian and a former world No.1 Richard Kruse will show you how to put a trap on a foil blade and pry forwards forcing the opponent to receive a hit. How to issue ‘inch power’ when beating a blade and how to deal with a ‘heavy handed’ opponent will also be covered. Finally\, the secrets of the infamous ‘disarm’ will be revealed. \n\n\n\nHe is also happy to talk about his philosophy of coaching and answer any questions! \n\n\n\n*Please note that the focus for this class is is on fencing coach education. \n\n\n\nBio \n\n\n\nRichard has coached fencing since 2004 and became a full-time professional coach in 2021 after finishing his career as an active fencer. DESCRIPTION:The Return of the Jedi: Refereeing as a tool for development and performance\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this presentation\, Sam hopes to offer a supportive presentation and discussion about key principles of refereeing and the FIE rulebooks\, and seeks to prove beyond reasonable doubt that better refereeing yields better coaching (and better fencing).  \n\n\n\n*Please note that the focus for this class is on fencing coach education. \n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\nSam is a FIE Licensed sabre and foil referee. A recovering international sabre fencer\, he achieved his FIE licence in 2022 (as one of the youngest in the world) and just two years later\, was appointed to the FIE’s referee ‘Master List’ – a select group of officials from around the world appointed to referee at senior world cups and championships. He has since refereed finals of Commonwealth\, European and World Championships\, as well as numerous World Cups and Grand Prixs. \n\n\n\nSam he is known for his calm presence\, rigid impartiality and knowledge of the rules – which is combined with a sporadic sense of humour depending on the competition venue’s temperature. \n\n\n\nHe is keen to support referees and refereeing generally\, a crucial practice which he firmly believes should not be confined to people wearing suits.
